En v\u00edsperas de la COP, las viudas de Saweto hablaran por primera vez con la prensa, en un evento en que adem\u00e1s se presentar\u00e1 un\u00a0nuevo reporte sobre los asesinatos de\u00a0activistas en Per\u00fa. Se presentara como parte del Festival de Cine Itinerante \u00bfQui\u00e9nes protegen nuestra selva? un cortometraje sobre ellas.<\/p>\n

Este mismo \u00a0d\u00eda se realizar\u00e1 un evento p\u00fablico en \u00a0Cantagallo, \u00a0a las \u00a05: 00 p.m.<\/p>\n

A inicios de Septiembre de este a\u00f1o, \u00a0cuatro l\u00edderes ind\u00edgenas \u2013incluyendo a Edwin Chota, \u00a0reconocido activista \u00a0anti-extracci\u00f3n ilegal \u00a0de madera \u2013 fueron asesinados por madereros ilegales, en la regi\u00f3n de Ucayali, \u00a0 caracterizada por sus ricas selvas amaz\u00f3nicas.<\/p>\n

El asesinato de Edwin Chota y sus compa\u00f1eros ejemplifica la lucha heroica de miles de ind\u00edgenas alrededor del mundo, por defender las selvas tropicales de las amenazas que las acechan. Tras la muerte de los cuatro ind\u00edgenas quedan \u00a0cuatro viudas que \u00a0dan testimonio de la historia de sus compa\u00f1eros de \u00a0vida. Ellas \u00a0ahora est\u00e1n continuado \u00a0la leg\u00edtima \u00a0lucha por \u00a0la titulaci\u00f3n de sus \u00a0tierras \u00a0por parte del \u00a0gobierno peruano.<\/p>\n

La organizaci\u00f3n internacional Global Witness lanzar\u00e1 un \u00a0nuevo reporte que arroja luces sobre los asesinatos de activistas ambientales en Per\u00fa en la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada. \u00a0 \u00a0Adem\u00e1s se mostrar\u00e1 un nuevo cortometraje sobre las secuelas de los asesinatos de septiembre y el proceso de justicia sobre el proceso de titulaci\u00f3n de la tierra.<\/p>\n

Este informe contiene importantes datos sobre el ambiente de inseguridad que hay en Per\u00fa para los \u00a0activistas \u00a0y protectores del ambiente. Esta situaci\u00f3n pone en duda el compromiso de Per\u00fa para proteger \u00a0la selva, \u00a0 justo un mes antes de las conversaciones internacionales \u2013 sobre el clima, los bosques y el secuestro de carb\u00f3n, \u00a0la miner\u00eda, la deforestaci\u00f3n, las petroleras y desarrollo de infraestructura \u2013 en las cuales \u00a0Per\u00fa es anfitri\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Al mismo tiempo en Nueva York, la Fundaci\u00f3n Alex Sores rendir\u00e1 honor a los h\u00e9roes muertos, con el Premio Anual de la Fundaci\u00f3n para Activismo Ambiental.<\/p>\n
