Esteban Suarez is a Shuar indigenous leader from the community of Moretecocha. Moretecocha is located in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest in the state of Pastaza. Within the community there are more than five nationalities that live together including the Achuar, Shuar, Kichwa, Wuarani, and Sapara. Like many other communities in the region Moretecocha is under threat by the interest of oil companies seeking to exploit crude in the communities land.
