Daniel Haratuma Javaé

Daniel worked as the leader of the Javaé and Karajá fire brigades in 2018, which carry out fire prevention work throughout the Bananal Island, located in the state of Tocantins. He commanded the administration of the brigades, drawing up seasonal work plans such as Integrated Fire Management and fire fighting strategies by land and air. Currently Daniel is working in indigenous health.

I love nature, I love my work preventing and fighting forest fires, and I love interacting with my community. What motivates me most is to know that the work we do every year has given good results, in addition to working with my iny people [indigenous name for people on the Ilha do Bananal] to take care of our own land.
