Miguel Imbaquingo Chimarro

Miguel Imbaquingo Chimarro of the indigenous Kayambi people, was born and raised in the community of La Buena Esperanza de Cangahua in Ecuador. He is a member of TAWNA films.

Miguel is a photographer and sound technician for film, currently pursuing a degree from the University of Palermo (B.A – Argentina). He has been part of some collective and artistic processes: director of some short films and short documentaries; and he has collaborated in film-based community education projects in Colombia, Peru and Mexico. His audiovisual work on social and artistic issues arises from the need “to represent ourselves from our own eyes and the problems of struggle and resistance of indigenous peoples and nationalities”.
