Mara is passionate about jagua [traditional Embera bodypainting]. At the beginning it was just a past time. After the discrimination, she was impelled to improve her technique to present it as the art that it is. Now it is one of her main passions, part of her Embera identity, and most importantly the platform for where the Embera cosmovision is formed.
She is part of the Embera cultural collective Dji Ta Wagadi.
