Indigenous Communicator, COP30 Campaigner for INUTW

 

Luiz is Indigenous from the Guajajara People of Maranhão, from the Arariboia Indigenous Land. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Tocantins. In addition to speaking English and Spanish, he also speaks the Guajajara language of his people.

During the pandemic, he worked with APIB in 2020 and 2021 as a communicator. In 2022 and 2023, he began working with the international organization Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI), also as a communicator. In 2023, Luiz participated in COP28 in Dubai, where his work gained recognition. The following year, he began working as an international technical advisor with ANMIGA.

As an advisor, he has participated in the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York, the last two Climate Weeks in New York, the Biodiversity Conference in Cali, Colombia, the G20 in Rio de Janeiro, and COP30 in Belém.
