Orgún Wagua (Panama, Gunadule – 1985) is a filmmaker, videographer, documentary editor, and cultural activist originally from Usdub, Gunayala. Co-founder of the production company Wagua Films, he specialized in documentary film at the International School of Cinema and Television of Cuba (EICTV 2008-2011). Among his achievements, his co-writing and co-direction of the film “The Wind and the Water” (Sundance 2008) stands out, as well as the direction of “Héroe Transparente” (2014). In addition, he has played the role of editor in the documentary “BILA BURBA” (IDFA 2023) by Duiren Wagua. He has been co-producer of the documentary “God is a Woman” (Venice 2023) by Andrés Peyrot. Orgun Wagua has also contributed as a filmmaker and editor of documentaries to the Panama Intangible Cultural Heritage Project (PCIP) of the Ministry of Culture of Panama (2019-2023). His commitment to the dissemination of cinema is reflected in the holding of introductory workshops to cinema in various peripheral city communities and in several indigenous communities in different territories. Currently, he is immersed in developing several audiovisual projects, continuing his dedication to cinematographic art and promoting culture in various communities. His last collaboration from Wagua Films has been with Indigenous TV and Mul-lu TV, the anti-mining campaign #PanamaTe QuieroVerde.
